Carol Freeman

Dr Carol Freeman
Centre for Environmental Studies
University of Tasmania

Carol Freeman has a background in English and History and has also worked in Geography and Environmental Studies in relation to her study of animal representations. Her honours thesis was on animals in Medieval writing - "Feathering the Text: (Re)reading the Animal in Medieval Writing" where she addressed the lack of critical scholarship dealing with representations of animals in literature. Her PhD research is on the politics of visualising the thylacine (Tasmanian tiger) in zoological and natural history works from 1806-1936. As part of this project she is looking at images in relation to the environmental concerns of extinction of species.

Carol's list of publications is available on her home page.
