Rod Bennison
Rod Bennison Geography, School of Environmental and Life Sciences University of Newcastle Rod is in the final stages of a doctoral thesis at the University of Newcastle. His thesis is entitled 'Ecological Inclusion: the need for a new inter-relationship between human and nonhuman animals'. He has a long-standing history in the environmental and animal rights/protection movements, in the past having worked for the National Parks Association of New South Wales and Australians for Animals. He is also a former ACF Councillor, SAFE Australia President and NPA NSW Hunter President. He is a member and activist within several other organisations.
He has presented at international conferences on human and nonhuman animal interactions, and was the runner-up in the writer's competition for the 10th Anniversary edition of Society and Animals, with the paper entitled 'Non-human Animals and Islam: towards ecological inclusion'. He has three papers in preparation, entitled:
'The Jaina Approach to Non-human Animals: a living embodiment of care or a capitalist nightmare.'
'Ecological Inclusion: an evaluative process to re-engage with non-human animals and minimise environmental despoliation.'
'Quaternary extinctions: overkill or overstatement? - the social construction of non-events.' |
